About The Sydney Cricket Ground
The Sydney Cricket Ground is in Moore Park in the Sydney suburb of Paddington. People have been playing sports at this location since the early 19th century. British soldiers played cricket here during the 1850s. The property was known as the Military & Civil Ground. A new pavilion was built and the playing field was upgraded during the late 1800s. The name was changed to the Sydney Cricket Ground in 1894.
Australian football and cricket are played at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The stands can hold 46,000 people. No smoking is allowed on the property.
