About The ANZ Stadium
A number of sporting events take place at the ANZ Stadium in Sydney, AU. Originally built for the 2000 Summer Olympics, the venue located in Sydney Olympic Park has undergone a series of changes to enhance the spectator experience. Membership packages allow customers to take advantage of special discounts and exclusive offers. The stadium also hosts private events including weddings and conferences.
ANZ Stadium has gone by many different names. Opened in 1999, the venue known as Stadium Australia was changed to Telstra Stadium. After a deal with the Australia and New Zealand Banking Group (ANZ), the name was changed to ANZ Stadium. Informally, ANZ is also known as Olympic Stadium. The venue is accessible by ferry and train services.
Originally built to accommodate 110,000 spectators, ANZ Stadium was the largest stadium in Australia. The venue was also the largest ever built specifically for the Olympics. A design project eventually shortened the North and South wings, and added movable seating. Awnings were added to provide maximum shading for spectators. The current design accommodates up to 83,500 people, making it the second largest stadium in Australia.
A number of sporting events are hosted at ANZ Stadium. Spectators enjoy home games for the National Rugby League, soccer and cricket events. The bands U2 and AC/DC have previously performed at the stadium.
ANZ memberships offer a variety of benefits. For an annual fee, guests enjoy access to exclusive lounge areas, guaranteed ticketing and discounts on food and beverage purchases. Memberships are transferable and can be used at other sports venues in Australia.
Behind-the-scenes tours gives an insiders view of ANZ Stadium. The Gantry Tour takes guests across a steel walkway, positioned above the stadium arena. Guests under 12 years of age are not allowed. The Explore Tour keeps guests on the ground, allowing them to run through the players’ tunnel.
Private rooms at the stadium accommodate 20 to 1,500 guests. If desired, guests may have their event directly on the field. A warm-up area next to the players change rooms is also available for private use.
